Come walk with us through a living history book. Evergreen, circa 1790, is the most complete plantation on the Great River Road. Evergreen Plantation is a most unique attraction. Evergreen Plantation has its original land grant, and the ‘Big House,’ with all of its dependencies, remained intact, as they were during the times of slavery.

There are only two other places in the country, Gettysburg and Mt. Vernon, which carry the designation of being a part of the National Historic Register, which truly makes Evergreen Plantation a one-of-a-kind experience.
Your visit will not only include "The Big House" and its dependencies, but also a walk down an allee of 100 live oak trees that are over 200 years old to visit 22 slave cabins in their original double row configuration.

During the tour, the Code Noir and slavery are discussed at length. The Code was a law that regulated treatment of slaves by their owners during the Colonial Era. The Plantation, which was appraised in 1835, has all of the names of the slaves who worked there, along with their backgrounds, job descriptions, and worth in 1835 dollars. The Evergreen Plantation tour is sure to give you an accurate and first-hand experience of Plantation life during the Colonial Era.

The Victoria House Restaurant and Gift Shop, circa 1890, is the gathering place for the tours, fine dining and serves as an information kiosk.

Ride the Swamp Buggy down a historic trail known as Batture. Then off to pristine Oxbow Lake for an exciting boat ride and a thrilling experience to see alligators and wildlife.
